Labor Day Weekend in Connecticut
Labor Day weekend usually marks the end of summer and is a great opportunity for families to get together before the school year begins. Some families head to the beach one last time, some keep it simple with backyard barbecues, others even take their last vacation for the year. If you are staying in Connecticut for Labor Day this year don’t worry, there is plenty to do!
Below are a few events happening in Connecticut to kick off one of our favorite holidays.
Goshen Fair
Goshen, Connecticut
A great country fair with loads of animals, food, entertainment, and rides. Enjoy this Litchfield County Labor Day tradition that features fireworks, pie eating contests, a draft horse show, and a lumber jack contest. This year the 107th Goshen Fair features the James Montgomery Blues Bans with special guest Christine Ohlman.
Lyman Orchards’ Corn Maze
Middlefield, Connecticut
Who doesn’t love a corn maze? It reminds me that fall is coming – and it’s a lot of fun too! Take the checkered flag at Lyman Orchards’ corn maze with this year’s theme of NASCAR champ Joey Lagano and his #22 car. This year’s maze is four acres of towering corn and two miles of pathways, so there is plenty of ground to cover. Don’t worry about getting lost, there will be Corn Cops to help guide families through.
Woodstock Fair
Woodstock, Connecticut
It’s a Labor Day tradition in Connecticut: the Woodstock Fairgrounds! There will be a battle of the bands, contests, and more. Enjoy agricultural exhibits (including a birthing center where you can view a cow birth a calf right before your eyes!), animal and farm equipment, food, and of course carnival rides.
Blues & Views Festival
Westport, Connecticut
Get your TICKETS in advance for this fun family event right in the heart of Westport. Enjoy food, music and fun. The Jessup Jam is filled with family friendly activities such as kids’ amusements, Imagination Playground, games, a food court, marketplace, and the Jesup Jam Music Stage.
New England Food Truck Festival
Uncasville, Connecticut
Heading to the Mohegan Sun this weekend? Dozens of food trucks will be on hand in the Winter parking lot. After sampling all there is to offer, enjoy music, kids games and activities, and a fireworks display at 9:15pm. Purchase tickets HERE.
