What is Hometown Nannies plus?
Hometown Nannies plus is a trusted, boutique, full-service nanny and household staffing agency serving the Tri-State area – Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey – along with Northern New England, California, Florida, and additional states, with select placements available nationwide.

Founded in 1988, originally as malibu mamas inc., we were founded by a mom and writer with a master’s degree in counseling. Her early experience working with a predominantly entertainment industry clientele led to the concept of “hybrid household staffing” and “domestic casting.”

We have 39 years of experience matching exceptional nannies and household professionals with wonderful families. We are licensed in Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey. We have been in the same office building for over 23 years and have used the same trusted background check company for over 15+ years. We are proud of our stellar success rate and our reputation for thoughtful, lasting placements. We maintain a dedicated database of nannies with unique and specialized talents, training, and skills called NANNIES+.

We take pride in our stress-free, streamlined process, which often results in a more timely and highly uccessful outcome. There is no snob factor with us – every family receives the same highly personalized service. Our goal is to make hiring household staff fun.

What types of placements do you offer?
We specialize in live-out and live-in, long-term full-time and part-time nannies, including ROTA nannies, newborn care specialists, governesses, tutors, special needs nannies, household managers, housekeepers and executive housekeepers, estate managers, personal chefs (The Chef’s Beret), personal and executive assistants, CNAs/HHAs/PCAs & companions (nannies4grannies), personal organizers, domestic couples, drivers, valets, laundresses, and more. We also have a dedicated service called THE TEMP TEAM that places temporary nannies, housekeepers, and newborn care specialists on a one-month, full-time basis.

How do you screen your candidates?
Every candidate is thoroughly vetted. We require a detailed application, personal interviews, professional reference checks, identity verification, and background checks (including criminal and DMV where applicable). All of our childcare candidates are CPR certified, and TrustLine-checked in
California.

Do you help with payroll and taxes?
Yes – while we do not process payroll directly, we guide families on best practices and can refer you to reputable household payroll services that specialize in nanny tax compliance.

What is your replacement policy?
We stand by our placements. If your hired candidate does not work out within the guaranteed placement period, we will work with you to find a suitable replacement according to the terms outlined in your family-agency agreement.

Do you charge a placement fee?
Yes. Our placement fees are competitive and reflect the level of personalized service and expertise we provide. Fees vary based on the type of position, duration, and salary offered. Please contact us for a customized quote.

How do I apply for a job?

Is there a fee for candidates?
Never. Candidates never pay a fee to register or be placed through Hometown Nannies Plus. 

Do you offer training or certification?
While we do not certify candidates directly, we encourage continuing education and can recommend trusted local or online training programs for CPR, defensive driving, household safety, and childcare best practices.

Our office is based in Fairfield County, Connecticut, and we proudly serve families throughout Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Northern New England, California, Florida, and other select areas nationwide. We have operated from the same professional office building for over 23 years.
